On Friday, August 30, 2019, the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) announced the availability of data reported under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) for 2018 lending activity. The newly released datasets follow the release of the modified HMDA data in March 2019, which provided lender-level datasets. The newly released data includes a static snapshot of the national HMDA dataset reported as of August 7, 2019 and corresponding datasets consisting of transmittal sheet records, the HMDA reporter panel and metropolitan area descriptions. As with 2017 HMDA data, dynamic updates of the 2018 HMDA data will be released to provide the public with the most current data for the reporting year.
In its corresponding press release, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) offered a summary of observations from the 2018 HMDA data. In addition, the CFPB published a report offering initial observations about the new and revised data points that were reported for 2018.
ADI is currently integrating the newly released data into its data warehouse to support analyses of risk under Fair Lending, Redlining, HMDA and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and other matters for clients.
